The Capital Washington DC, day 3

It's going to rain all day today in DC, so we choose indoor activities to visit museums, US Capitol and US National Archives.

Nearest Station : L’Enfant Plaza
Opening Hours  : 10:00 am – 5:30 pm
Admission : Free
The National Air and Space Museum takes visitors to the sky, showcasing the amazing technological achievements that have progressed aviation and space exploration throughout the last century. But what makes me more exciting to visit this museum is because its one of the location shooting of Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Where in the movie, the main character Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) meets the beautiful and adventurous Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams), this is the real picture of Amelia Earhart and the plane as seen in the film. Albert Einstein bobbleheads which also show up in the film as well.

Nearest Station : Capitol South Station or just walk 12 minutes from National Air & Space Museum Opening Hours : open to visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and on Inauguration Day.
Admission : Free, just book the tour in advance
The U.S. Capitol is currently under construction started in spring 2014 included new paint, and repairing and replacing damaged, rusted or missing pieces of the ornate ironwork which makes up the dome. Luckily, we got last minute tour otherwise we can go further beyond the Capitol Visitor Center. The tour usually fill up really fast, so remember to book in advance.
As you all know, security at the Capitol Building is pretty tight. We will need to go through a metal detector and there are many items that are not allowed into the building so just packed up light, just take your wallet, cellphones and camera will do fine. Once you are inside, the tour will go through about the Capitol building, its history, both past and present. The room architecture and statues are fascinating.

After we've done with the Capitol we went to the Library of Congress using the underground tunnel passage just follow the sign. The Library of Congress holds the title of "largest library in the world". The Building's Main Reading Room so fascinating with that grand domed ceiling and mahogany desks. Remember that movie, “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” where the main character Benjamin Gates (Nicolas Cage) is looking for the President's Book of Secrets where it is kept in this library, in section ZY.

This museum has some great exhibits but a bit crowded, what do you expected its a free museum. My favorite part was the gems and mammal exhibit. Although it's a bit difficult to take the picture of the gems because I think that's everyone favorite part in this museum so its really crowded. It's our last stop for today. I can't wait to go back to our Airbnb place, take a long hot shower then watching Netflix in warm bed (PS: it's been raining all day even my shoes are wet).
