Yangmingshan Tienlai Resort & Spa - 陽明山天籟渡假酒店

Location : Yang Ming Mountain, New Taipei City

Website : http://www.tienlai.com.tw/

Hot spring bath is a must to do list in Taiwan especially in this kind of weather. Tienlai Resort & Spa is one of the great resort to visit. You will be satisfied seeing the mountain view and using their great facilities. It can be reach using bus no 1717 (Royal Bus皇家客運) from Taipei Main Station exit M8, the journey takes around 90 minutes and get off at " Tien Lai Spring Resort" (天籟溫泉會館).

We took the 11.30 bus and arrived at the hotel around 13.00.The staff was very helpful and very detailed when explaining the various facilities in the hotel and room. Since it was 13.00 and the check-in time is later at 15.00, we just sit around in the lobby enjoying the view while eating mochi and drinking tea provided by the hotel.

At 14.30 we go directly to the Blue Magpie Lounge for tea time. Actually we skip lunch since we had breakfast around 10.00 and if we ate lunch I don't think my stomach can handle afternoon tea. They only provide 2 options for the package deal, you either can have the afternoon set tea or Japanese style noodle ramen. I choose the variety of cakes and pastries and my husband who doesn't like sweet stuff of course is choosing the noodle. But don't worry the restaurant have many other plenty option just not included in the package deal we bought.

We stayed in the Japanese version room which mean we have our own private hot spring bath. My balcony show a really nice view of the mountain and the pool. I love this hotel service and facilities. No wonder it cost around 10,000 NTD per night on weekend including afternoon tea, dinner buffet and breakfast buffet. First thing we do, take nice long hot bath. My husband really enjoy the bath so much, he didn’t want to get out from that warm pool of pleasure.

The yuro spa were excellent choice after long bath it's time for massage. We took advantage of a special rate they were offering at the Lulu Spa around 2100 NT (with 500 NT voucher discount), the service include 10 minutes treatment oil consultancy, 40-minute back massage and 10-minutes of back scrubbing or black stone massage. The staff was polite, nice and explain everything before the session begin. Feel free to tell them specific problems you have like back pain or neck problem so they can help you especially in those parts. You could imagine smelling the aromatic oil, listen to soft music while your body relieve all those tension and stress, so good and relax.

After massage, it dinner time!! Khan is a Mongolian BBQ restaurant, you first choose ingredients from a display of meats, vegetables and sauces to create your own bowl. You then hand it to a chef, who will cooks it in front of you. Apart from the Mongolian BBQ, you can find all sorts of prepared food, including soup, salad, fresh seafood, cooked fish/chicken, and even other Taiwanese dishes. Thay also had a variety of drinks, desserts and fruit to finish off the meal  But frankly, I didn't it so much since you have to create your own sauce sometimes the taste not like you expected and the queues can be quite long waiting for your food to be cooked.

After dinner we just walked around the hotel surrounding, This resort offer numerous indoor and outdoor facilities such as swimming pool, gym, billiard, children's playground, hot spring area, SPA world and many more. Most of the facilities open until 10.00 pm, some of them event until 12.00 pm. The night view also amazing full of dazzling star, what a starry night!

I woke up to this view. I definitely jumping to those pools after breakfast.

The breakfast buffet was pretty good with a variety of both Asian and western dishes. We enjoyed the food, you could find many variety such as omelet, sausage, noodles, fried rice, salad bar, bread, congee, steam bun, dumpling, fruits and many more. But we didn't eat too full since we are planning jumping on the pool after breakfast. Try not to bathe on an empty or full stomach, but somewhere in between (I read those some rules in the internet).

The outdoor hotsprings and pools were wonderful with the most amazing mountain view! Really love our morning dip!
Some hot spring tips I saw in the internet:
1. In cold weather, warm your hands and feet well and enter the bath slowly; entering the bath too quickly can cause the blood pressure to rise sharply and is not good for your health.
2. It is best NOT to take a hot bath if you are not feeling well or people with weak hearts or weak blood vessels.
3, At first, limit your bathing time to about 10 minutes, including getting in and out of the hot water. You can extend this time as you become more used to the hot water. Make sure you get out of the bath before your heart starts beating too hard.
4. Drink water after bathing to replenish your fluids, and take a rest.

Don't forget to tried cooking raw eggs in the hot spring. The eggs have to be preheated for 30 seconds in the preheating pools and then cooking them for another 15 minutes in this hot spring pool, There are so many children love this activity including my pingu ^0^.

The lunch buffet also really nice with many variety of dishes. You could find fresh seafood, fried food, noodles, rice, dumpling, fresh oven baked pizza, cakes, desserts, fruits and many more. We ate really full since we didn't have any other activity after lunch.

So sad it's time to go home and say goodbye to this lovely resort and those beautiful mountain view. We took the same bus no 1717 at 14.30. Definitely will come back again since we really enjoy our stay here.
