Eternal City of Rome Day 2 Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Altare della Patria.

Finally after a long nap (approximately 15 hours) thanks to jetlag!! Now we are ready to explore Rome again. Our itinerary for the second day is to visited Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, but turn out we have more time so we decided to visit Altare della Patria.

If you plan to visit both places choose the tickets to the Colosseum that are joint with the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. (PS: using Rome pass you can got the joint ticket and fast track to skip queue). You can easily reach this place using metro, just stop at  Colosseo (Metro B).

Colosseum, the largest amphitheater in the world use by the Greek for public show such as battles, dramas and gladiator combat. The ancient structure is amazing. The standard ticket only allow you access to first and second levels, please choose other tour service to explore other place like Colosseum underground, the arena floor and the third tier.

The Palatine Hill and Roman Forum, breath-taking views of ancient ruins and artifacts. It's only short distance from Colosseum. Scenic view of ancient Roman history the ancient monuments, garden, temples and many more.

From the forum we walk to Santa Maria in Cosmedian church to see the legendary of Mouth of Truth. I must said its a long 15-20 minutes up and down exhausting walk from the hill in sunny day. It was believed that the mouth of the marble face would close if anyone put his hand in it and told a lie. Which by the way attract so many visitors to put their hand in the mouth like me ^0^

Since no metro station nearby Santa Maria in Cosmedian, we took a bus back to Termini Station and then change to another bus to Trevi Fountain. I already knew the fountain is under construction but I still insist to go there. I feel like crying seeing the lovely beautiful fountain became like this. Maybe next time if I have a chance I will visit Rome again to see Trevi Fountain.

From the fountain we walk around 8-10 minutes to Spanish Steps, a great example of Roman style where you can sit down and enjoy the atmosphere of Eternal City. And you are in "shopping zone" so close to boutiques of the world's most luxurious brands such as Max Mara, LV, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, etc.

Actually we didn't plan to visit Altare della Patria, we just saw this monument from the bus and it look interesting so decide to stop since its still early in the afternoon to go back to the hotel.  Its a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy. We just strolling around the building and go on top of it just having birds-eye view of the city.
