City of Brussels

We took early morning flight around 6am from Milan-Malpensa Airport to Brussels, so we decided to spend the night in the hotel near the airport which also provide shuttle service to the airport. But sometimes when the shuttle is fully booked you could take a taxi which cost approximately 15-20 euros. It's time to say goodbye to Italy and going to Brussels. We only passing by Brussels for one day to try some foods and belgian chocolate.

Our first stop is Atomium, a unique structure building symbol of Brussels and Belgium. Inside you could see some exhibitions, conference rooms and restaurants.

Nearest Station : Schuman and Mérode line 1
Opening Hours  : all days
Our second stop is Cinquantenaire Park, absolutely a great place to enjoy the sunshine and sea of autumn leaves. Really love autumn season, you could just relax enjoying the sunshine while eating delicious hot caramel waffle. The park filled with many people going picnic, riding a bike, children running to catch a bird, and sunbathers who just want the sunshine.

Grand Place
Nearest Station : Centrale, Bourse (pre-metro) or De Broukere
Opening Hours  : all days
Last stop the heart of Brussels is its main square, the Grand Place. This central square surround by many buildings full of people, cafes, restaurant and place to shop. Belgium is best known for its chocolate, waffles, fries and beer. See this guide to choose which chocolate you should buy. I choose to try Neuhaus, Godiva and Leonidas for myself, my family and my colleague.

For lunch I choose Moules-frites, the national dish of Belgium, the moules often served in the same pan and stock used to cook them.  A second pan is provided to throw away the mussels' shells once it has been eaten. But since my husband always choose something normally he can ate, he choose nice and juice steak-frites. Both dishes are delicious and have a great flavor .

Belgian waffle is a popular snack in Belgium. I love the original one without any topping coz you taste the caramel melting in your mouth. But the chocolate and strawberry topping are also not bad.

Belgian frites are very popular dish in Belgium, usually the fries placed in a paper cone, served with mayonnaise or ketchup. I actually love the fries but the mayo make it more thick so I don't really like the mayo sauce.

We also went to see Manneken Pis (little pee man) in near Grand Place just walk around 10 minutes. I absolutely have no idea why this statue is a popular attraction place for tourist. There are many legend stories about this cute statue, don't know which one is true.
